Jayaram Bharadwaj, M.D.

Jayaram Bharadwaj, MD, is a Board-certified Medical Oncologist. Prior to joining Pacific Cancer Medical Center, Inc., Dr. Jay was affiliated with New Mexico Oncology Hematology Cancer Center, New Mexico. Dr. Jay joined our practice October 2015, leaving his former organization and patients a legacy of compassion and knowledgeable care.

Dr. Jay earned a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery from Bangalore University, India. He completed his first post-graduate training at the University of Dharwar, India as resident in Internal Medicine. He continued his residency and earned Board Certification in Internal Medicine at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center in Bronx, New York, which lead him to serve as Chief Medical Resident and later earned his Board Certification in Medical Oncology at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah.

Dr. Jay has authored several articles published in PubMed and stored as part of the US National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health. A few examples of these articles include topics on breast cancer, blood clot and melanoma. Dr. Jay enjoys traveling, playing chess, and hiking.

Thiri Khin, M.D.

Thiri Khin, M.D. is Board-certified medical Oncologist & Hematologist. She completed her studies at the Institute of Medicine I in Myanmar, Burma, which is the oldest and most selective medical school in the country and from Baylor college of Medicine Oncology & Hematology as Chief Fellow in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Khin is also a member of The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), The American Society of Hematology (ASH), The American Medical Association (AMA), and Myanmar ball workouts with a partner Medical Association (MMA) in Yangon, Myanmar. She was awarded Resident of the year on 2013-2014 at the American College of Physicians as well as the first prize on Completed research category on GME scholar day for “ Antibiotic therapy for Infectious Disease: Stay away from Wikipedia” and the first prize on Research in progress for “Helicobacter pylori and the pathogenesis of Gallbladder carcinoma”

Thiri also passed her matriculation exam with the 10th highest score in the whole country of Myanmar. She was also resident co-investigator with Florida hospital cancer institute on “Peripheral Blood K-ras analysis as a molecular biomarker of cancer risk and relapse” as well as “Role of Helicobacter species in pathogenesis of Gallbladder carcinoma” which was selected as one of the top 4 abstracts in GME scholar.

Publications of Dr. Khin includes different subchapters on “Handbook of prostate cancer and other genitourinary malignancies” and a few articles on “Behavioral Surveillance Surveys on STIS in Gyo-Bin-Gauk Township”

Dr. Khin is fluent in Burmese (Myanmar), Mandarin Chinese, and English. Her hobbies include spending time with her pet dog and cat as well as being a dedicated, caring, and compassionate member of Pacific Cancer Medical Center team.

Maria Ampudia

Maria Ampudia completed her Bachelors of Science in Biology at California State University, Fullerton, and her Primary Care Physician Assistant Program at Western University of Health Sciences. She has over thirteen years of experience serving as a physician assistant in oncology/hematology specialty. A seasoned and creditable professional, Maria’s strength lies in her ever-positive attitude.

Maria is a member of the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), Association burpee hiit workout of Physician Assistants in Oncology (APAO), California Association of Physician Assistants (CAPA). She has co-authored a paper ‘High prevalence of vitamin D deficiency or insufficiency in breast cancer patients’ presented at the Annual San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (2007).

Sharon Westerberg

Sharon Westerberg graduated magna cum laude from the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Sciences. She has over fourteen years of clinical experience serving at leading medical institutions and biopharmaceutical companies in California.

Sharon has co-authored several research papers for peer-reviewed journals, and abstracts from her papers have been cited in over 30 essays and dissertations. She has won the Special Recognition in Surgery award from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), the First Place Research Award at the Charles W. Buggs First Annual Scientific Symposium, and been inducted into the Epsilon Tau Sigma Honor Society.

Sharon is appreciated for her meticulous attention to detail, helpful nature and compassionate attitude towards patients and colleagues.

Shelton (Jim) Colinco

Jim joined the Pacific Cancer Medical Center team in 2001. A Certified Physician Assistant and Sub-Investigator, Jim has over 15 years of clinical experience, excelling in many areas including Hematology, Oncology, Pediatrics, Geriatrics, and Blood and Marrow Transplant Services. He has worked extensively with patients receiving chemotherapy.

Jim graduated magna cum laude from Bernard Baruch College of CUNY with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology, and later received a Master of Science in Medical Clinical Sciences from Emory University School of Medicine. He belongs to the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) and the California Academy of Physician Assistants (CAPA). Jim is a proud father who enjoys traveling, spending time with his family, and caring for his patients. He can also speak Tagalog, a native language of the Philippines.

Karen Dawson

Karen Dawson has been in the healthcare field for almost 20 years. She received her undergraduate degree B.S. Dietetics at UC, Davis, and worked as a Registered Dietician at Cedars Sinai Medical Center and UC Irvine Hospital for several years before becoming a Physician Assistant.

She completed her Physician Assistant studies at Stanford University School of Medicine, Foothill College in 2008. Karen has worked in internal medicine prior to joining Pacific Cancer Medical Center Hematology/Oncology in 2012. She has a broad knowledge of internal medicine, health and nutrition.

When Karen is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. She loves the outdoors and spending time on the beach, in the park and going on hikes. In the winter, Karen and her family like to go snowboarding. Her other interests include boxing classes, reading and food.
